Huskies lose heartbreaker

The U of S Huskies just lost to the Calgary Dinos on a last second field goal miss in a heartbreaking loss. The final score was 39-38.

The Huskies were winning for most of the game. The Dinos took the lead with about two minutes left and the Huskies marched all the way down the field. Grant Shaw missed a 34 yard field goal with ten seconds left which would have put the Huskies up.

The Huskies made a few mistakes and left some points off the board.

Laurence Nixon was 24/35 passing for 422 yards. Tyler O’Gorman had the playoff magic and rushed for 162 yards on 24 carries. The Huskies leading receiver was Travis Gorski who had seven receptions for 89 yards. Rory Kohlert had five catches for 166  yards.

Nico Higgs had 7 tackles on defense and Peter Thiel had 6.5.

We are still meeting with some of the players and coaches, so we will update this story in a few minutes.

  1. Tough loss for the Dogs. There is not much separating these two teams. We’d better get used to this matchup because I think these two teams are going to face each other in a lot more matchups for the Hardy.

Thanks to the “Huskie Outsider” for great coverage of Huskie football all season long.

  2. Thanks to the Huskie Outsider for providing fans with valuable coverage throughout the season… and thanks to the Huskies for an outstanding year. Yeah, it didn’t end the way we wanted it to, but the Dinos and Huskies gave us an electric Hardy Cup final.

On the post-game radio show, I heard one of the commentators mention that the Dinos and Huskies will face either twice in the 2010 regular season. Can you confirm this?

  3. I would like to see the post game T.V. interviews with the coach(es).

  4. I’ll have highlights and interviews up later today.

  5. Congratulations to the Huskies on a great season and a great game.

Fifth year guys, hold your heads high!

Thanks Outsider for the great coverage. I will be back everyday during the LONG off-season.

    GO HUSKIES!

  6. I heard that someone “misread ” something?
